Got to Tucson yesterday and set temp camp, went out this am to scout with a local. We saw 14 does and not bucks. Out tomorrow to scout Coues. Tried to buy a license and tag at Walmart and dicks but they have not got them in yet until after the first of the year. It seems that they don’t want the 2018 licenses sold until the first? After calling the AG&F and talking to some really nice. People they hooked me up with a Big 5 down in Tucson. I called to confirm that they had them and was told that they had not received them yet, I explained to the guy that the G&F had a receet that they were delivered. He said let me Check1 more place and what do you know they had them. Off tomorrow to buy one. Now just have to find the deer, no problem seeing them it’s just getting to with in 60 yards or so, maybe a little further ifs big

We will be heading out to a unit near Tucson on Wednesday. There are a ton of deer out there good luck.
What area? I’m staying at Catalina State Park, seeing Coues deer right out of camp. be sure you have a license and tag before you come if you can. I can’t get one until the first, the G&F screwed up. Good hunting

All I hear is nothing but good things about this Arizona over the counter archery hunt.

Is it really that good?

We will be staying on the east side of Mt Lemmon near San Manuel. We are gonna be in the same unit as you. Lots of Muleys near Catalina as well. Awesome unit, probably my favorite in AZ.

I am gonna stop at the Yuma GFD office on the way out to grab my tag.

To day was the opening, don’t know the country yet but saw16 does this AM, I got the crud’s and cant got rid of it but will be out tomorrow trying to fling an arrow. I shot an archery range in Marana and my range guesses were way off, way short but the 80 yard shots look close, make sure you know your ranges good hunting

Hi Denny good luck on your hunt I'll be right next door to you tomorrow hunting the pigs we'll be in Benson You've got my cell phone # call me

Yersterday

Yesterday I saw a large 4 pointer with 6 does and a spike, watched them bed down and left them there to rest. Went back that after noon and glassed but couldn’t find them. Moved up the canyon a bout 100 yards and busted them out. Went out this am but just saw the spike and 3 does, it’s going to be hard getting on one with all the does around. 2friends got here today so will try another area tomorrow. I’ll call you tomorrow some time

Mark what I posted is the equivalent of saying I will be in the CNF. But you are right and I deleted it.

So far got on 2 Javelina 10 minutes into the morning. They busted at about 50 and then vanished. I saw more Coues deer doe than I could count but no bucks yet.

Sherpa spikes are legal in AZ just a heads up. I don’t know if you would take one or not I just read the rules and realized it last night. Any antlered deer where an angler breaks the skin is a legal buck in AZ. Learn something new everyday.
