Point it in a safe direction, remove the mag, manually cycle the slide a few times, look into the chamber to verify the gun is cleared, dry fire (in a safe direction) to confirm the gun is safe. Pretty standard stuff if I'm not mistaken.
Just like Bonejour said, always check with your local Forestry/ Law Enforcement to get in the know about current fire conditions/ situations. In some of the areas I frequent, there are fire pits near the trailheads so if for whatever reason I wanted to hang out, I'm legal. Another reason I carry...
Table top impression...

Got it fitted as best as I could with a 30# weighted vest inside of it.
I can't wait to get out and put it to work.
Those who have it, how does it hold up in the rain? Is it worth it to buy the rain cover, or is it fairly waterproof?
As far as lighting goes, I ran this

the red led got a great workout, it's lightweight, didn't turn on in the pack, fairly inexpensive and readily available.
and I always carry...
So... My Kuiu Icon Pro is finally out for delivery (Ordered late Nov). Got the 1850 for scouting, light day trips and am planning on ordering the 7200 bag once my tax return gets in.
;D
Definitely take a look at Remington's 783. They come in a few different medium/ big game calibers.
I have one in 30-06, shoots about M.O.A. @100yards with good ammo and they are on sale everywhere.
Plus you don't have to deal with everything you would read about on the internet about the Rem 770.
After a debate between the Outdoorsman Optics Hunter and the Kuiu Icon Pro 7200...
I figured at that point it was preference, I couldn't go wrong with either one.
I am patiently waiting for Kuiu to get the SM-M belt back in stock so they can take my money.
Re: 57 More days until the 2014 Dove season
I'm counting down the days. Just got my girlfriend to order a new 870 supermag for the Fall.
Out of curiosity, I'm from the Northern San Fernando Valley bordering Canyon Country. Any one else up around here, or are most of you down south a bit?
I was in the same predicament for my first shotgun. After reading reviews everywhere I could, as well as watching a ton of youtube videos; I went with the 870. I love it! I recommend it to everyone I know. I have yet to have any jamming or short stroking issues.
