Looking for some intel on Kenetrek boots. Anyone on here wear em? Know of a store in the area where I could try some on? I blew out my boot packing out my deer this season, so I'm thinking of upgrading to the Hardscrabble. Is the fit true to size? Thanks for any input.

There are so many good boot companies out there.... I don't know of any local store that sells Kenetrek but I wouldn't let that deter you, and I wouldn't be too focused on any one brand. Lowa, Asolo, Scarpa, La Sportiva, Crispi, Kenetrek, etc, etc, etc. The key is finding the company that builds a boot around a mold that approximates the shape of your foot. They are all making quality product. They will all fail eventually. The most important thing is finding the fit that doesn't put a hole in your foot. No one can tell you what will work for your foot, it will take time and money. Honestly I would focus on brands you can try on locally.... otherwise you will just be guessing.

Kennetrek is the best boot I've ever used. It excels in steep rough terrain in that it doesn't flex and stress your ankle. They are rebuildable, I've had mine redone twice now and they just keep getting better with time. I use the hardscrabble as well and its all you need for any type of terrain.

I use to love my danners. Then I got some kenetreks. I’ll never wear another boot. Order on amazon, they have a great return policy.

I always go non-insulated. It just doesn't get cold enough here, and I'd be worried of my feet sweating bad when it's hot. I think the coldest I've encountered here was low 20s during late A22 season, which isn't bad, and my feet were still OK with some good socks on.

Anyone who already has these boots know how these boot sizes run? I also live in socal have no way to try any on but would like to place a order

I was wondering the same, but I can let u know shortly once my pair comes in. I wear a 10.5 in cowboy boots, 11 in street shoes, and 11.5 in Red Wings.. and I ordered a 11 in the Kenetrek. We'll see.

How do you like your Kenetrek's after a couple of months? Have you been breaking them in? I have contemplating them or the Schnee's Beartooth II boots.

I'm still in the break in phase (only about 3-5 miles in) but the first couple outings have been pretty rough on my heels, which I've heard is common with the Kenetrek. I went to Adventure 16 and they did an awesome job at setting me up with good insoles (Superfeet Copper), and gave me a fitment check and lacing advice, which all helped to reduce my heel burn. I also switched my socks from the thinner SmartWool Hiker to the thicker SmartWool Mountaineer plus REI liner. I'm still getting heel burn but it's not nearly as bad, and I expect it'll get better as I continue the break in process. I really like the sturdiness of the boot though, and the stiffness of the sole is awesome for tackling inclines.

I am about to pull the trigger on either Kenetrek Mountain Extremes or Schnees Granites. I am going to call both companies tomorrow. I am leaning towards the Schnees. In 8 months I completely blew out my Irish setters. They are super comfortable but They can’t handle day in day out abuse. I put a ton of hard miles on and need a boot that can handle it.

Are you leaning toward the Granite II or Granite Pro? Once I realized that the Schnee Granite II were are insulated i stopped looking at them. My feet get soaked in a day in our hills.

I did see the regular Granite’s are on sale but they don’t my size unless I wear extra thick socks and buy the 12s.

the Granite 2 only have 200g on insulation that’s not terrible. I like the beartooths as well just seems like the granites should hold up better for the kind of hiking I do.
