I’ve decided to start looking for a place outside CA. My kids and wife will remain in CA so that limits my residents to somewhere nearby (within 7hours driving time or 1 hour flight time). I love me wife so this isn’t a marital thing only the fact that she gets her income from an employer in CA while I can live anywhere (I’m now retired). So I could reside in Lake Tahoe,NV while she resides in CA. I would rather live further south in NV (closer to San Diego) yet still in a foresty setting. Do the Eastern Sierra’s stretch into Nevada?

Nevada is a great state, but Tahoe is certainly farther than 7 hours.....I do have relatives in both Carson City and Garnerville.....They're hardcore hunters and fisherman (& former Cali's).....Housing prices are very good in Carson City and you don't have the rat race of Reno or Tahoe....They'll never move back.

Have you thought of Southern Utah?....St. George or Cedar City....Beautiful high country minutes away, but low country with very similar weather to SoCal....I absolutely loved it there this last turkey season.....Reasonable housing prices and only 6 hours away.

I also have family in gardnerville NV and Carson City both big time hunters and trappers. They absolutely love it there

Just watched a program that was about hunting the Paunsaugunt Unit just east of St. George.....Very hard to draw, but monster buck if you do.

I just put this hunt into go hunt it would take a non resident 21 years to draw this tag today. Now with point creep it will probably be more like 30 by the time I get to draw it.

If you don't live in Utah right now and for your entire life in the past and been building points for years you will never, Let me repeat never ever hunt the Paunsaugant period. Do the homework and you will see its off the list for non resident's. Go to the local sporting good's store in Saint George and see what might have been in another time... That is hallowed ground as far as mule deer go bar none....
