i am taking the boat safety class this god awful state requires me to have.

some gems so far..

take a shit on shore, do not toss trash into the water , share your oil can with a friend
  • Brown, brown, run aground : These shallows could contain land formations or aquatic grass beds.
  • North Atlantic right whales: 500 yards (1500 feet)
stand by ill have more soon i am sure, and please for the love of god stay away from the right whales

They passed a law mandating boater training, it was required for younger captains at first and now it's 60 and younger. Everyone by next year but not people renting boats......
 
I just don't get it. Starting July 1, pig tags will be $27.50 unlimited pigs. Now $28.50 for one pig. This must be a mistake. Very much unlike this money grabbing state.
 
"Wild pig Validation " John..let's make sure we get it right as to not upset the folks who wrote this into law...I mean it is CA and some of those folks can be soft like a taco...

Is this done online like traffic school?
 
Lots of chatter about He, She, It, whatever. Here's my question. What if I shoot a deer during the D16 that has no antlers but identifies as a male? Am I off the hook?

When I lived in HI they passed an identical bill, all boaters need to pass a boater's exam and get a license. The Hawaiians are notoriously independent
and don't want haoles [white people] telling them what to do. They have been safely navigating these waters for 1400 years and now the white guys from the mainland are telling them they don't know shit from shinola and they need to take a boater's class and pay a fee and then get a license. They collectively gave the government the middle finger. Even the enforcement people told the bureaucrats to take a hike. I don't know a single person who was cited or fined for not having the license.

Next thing you know, CA will have a "Defecation Permit," which gives you the right to take a dump, but only after paying a fee and passing an exam.

Move to Montana before it's too late.

I love Hawaii..Former Haole here...12 years in the islands..some of the best hunting I've ever had. .and I hunt a little..
 
Boaters are a cash cow to be milked by the state. If you own a boat, you have money and will pay your fees and fines. DFW will send two officers to Catalina to write tickets to “protect the fishery”, but ignore a bunch of “newcomers” killing 9 inch spotted bay bass on your local wharf. Hmm, now why would they do that?

And from 500 yards how am I supposed to know it’s a North Atlantic Right Whale and not a South Pacific Wrong Whale? WTH?!?!?!?

They will just give you the privilege of taking a dump for a fee, will never make it a right.

It's California....
 
so all done with it... the telling thing was in the calif specific section of the test 30% of the questions were related to registration ( state wants its money ) and not safety
