Howdy all. Since i sold my boat a few years ago i havent really fished at all. My son and i want to take my dad out for a good day of shore fisshing this weekend. we live in north LA and the local lakes SUCK!!! we are willing to drive. im not asking for a secret pond or stream or anything like that. I am asking your opinions of so cal lake that are producing. Ive read cuyamaca may be good. I personally love top water bass fishing but i know its been slow all over. we really arent picky when it comes to fish type. We do have a great time in the out doors no matter but it would be nice if we went to a place that atleast had fish?

Cuyamaca is good for trout however bass fishing is fair at best. And the trout fishing is terrible this time of year at least in my opinion. I'd say your best bets would be hodges, Sutherland or wohlford if you just want to catch a few bass and learn a new lake. If you go wohlford however you will have a great chance at a monster. I've pulled a 6 and an 8 out of there this year and several of my buddies have gotten double digit fish.

Unless you rent a boat, that's all that there is.....And the shore isn't that easy anymore either (Tules)....Also, if you fish the Oalvale side, watch for snakes.....Fishing is only so so anywhere you go on the post spawn.....2 cents
 
So this is just a Hail Mary with no detail behind it but maybe bluegil at Diamond valley or Skinner. If you are just trying to catch fish that's what I would do. Meal worms bobbers structure.

There are topwater largemouth bass bites opening up all over Southern California, but the action has Casitas Lake has been perhaps the best pick in the region and a pair of pigs at seven and nine pounds were reported in the past week. Overcast has kept the topwater action alive long this past week. For an update on this action, check with the the boat rental at 805-649-2043 or www.casitasboatrentals.com.
 
thanks for that casitas is/was a favorite lake but it has been so low like many that is was bad the last few years. it is much closer to me now im confused :-[
 
The catfish are going off at henshaw. Fish shrimp, night crawlers, mackeral, or dough bait on the rocks by the dam. You will catch fish.
 
I do pretty good for catfish at Lake Dixon. No license required, have 5 bucks cash to get in and it will run you about 60 for a boat and lake fees for two. Hit the buoy line or catfish cove. Just ask the ranger at the dock. Like Truduct said "shrimp, night crawlers, mackeral, or dough bait" Let us know where you go and post pics!!

take a lot of water and a good hat supposed to be 90 on saturday,99 on sunday, good luck!
 
Hey all any one have any additional current info for some lake fishing. I'm headed out with the grandchildren this weekend and I'd like to give them the best chance at some fish.

Henshaw still very good.....There was line out the door with guys paying to fish yesterday....Catfish & crappie biting, they said.
