Headed out with my buddy in my 15ft whaler on Saturday and found some breezers in the blue water. Took 4-5 tries but we finally got in front of them and I was able to jump in and shoot a nice one. I thought it was a #50-60 when I shot but when I pulled him up I realized I had a tanker. I hit him in the spine and it paralyzed him, the fight only took about 10 minutes. 72" x 53"

We tried for more but they would sink out every time we got close.

It went #231 at Dana Landing. I think I'll have sashimi for a while.

Personal Best?

Congrats

By a long shot! This is my first tuna, I've never been able to connect with one. I've taken plenty of shots but they are fast and hard to land. I'd say for my first one I knocked it out of the park!

Strong work! That is an awesome fish! What length gun/ number of bands were you using?

72" Merlo/Harranen Tuna gun, 6 bands, cable slip tip and rigging. 5/8 shaft. 100ft bungee with a RA hardfloat, float clutch and a 3ATM Riffe torpedo float.

Some of you might know the diver that was with me on this trip. I couldn't have got the fish without him.
