Missouri trip

Hitting the road early tomorrow morning, should get to my property Sunday night. No luck here in Cali this season, hopefully I can get a nice whitetail.

Sorry I didn't keep you updated, no service on my property. We just got home yesterday. First couple days there we got 5" of rain. I got to hunt during the breaks. I would of sat out in the rain but I had my son with me. We saw a few small bucks but no shooters. On the 3rd day the rain stopped and we got to hunt all day. Only problem, my son could not sit still or be quiet. We saw deer but never got to see what they were, all I saw was white tails running away. We were hunting from the ground so they were already hard to see through all the oak trees. So the next day I tell my son he has to sit still and be quiet for the 100th time and 20 minutes in he is moving and breaking sticks and whatever else he can do. So I decide to make the hour drive to town and buy a double seat tree stand. By the time I get back and put it together, we have about an hour of light left but don't see anything. The next day is our last day and I'm frustrated. I have two tags to fill, a any deer and a doe tag. At this point I've given up on shooting a monster buck. I'll take any two deer. We get in our stand early it's cold and I can tell my son won't last long. Just then four doe walk out from behind us. I shoot one and she runs about 100 yards and drops. The other three scatter but one of the stops and gives me shot so I take it. She drops right where I shot her. So I didn't get a buck but I did fill my freezer. As frustrating as it was, in the end I'm glad my son got to experience this.

headed back to my property in a few weeks. season opens on Nov 12th this year. hopefully ill find a buck this year. hunting solo unless i can convince my brother to go.
