Hey guys I'm new to waterfowling other than jumping ducks on canals. I have a Jon boat I camod, waders and an outboard. I have been told both the outboard and waders are useless as the water is to shallow for a traditional outboard and the bottom is to sticky and thick for waders.

I am considering either a trolling motor or a mud motor. Thoughts?

Also I am considering building a quick scissor blind on my boat to hunt from so it is easy to move in position of the flight path on that day instead of hunting the blinds on the public land. Thoughts?

As I'm new to this any help would be very appreciated!

I would reach out to Big Jim by Private Message. He hunts the sea alot and could give you pointers on this type of stuff.

You need to make yourself a push pole, Do a web search on waterfowl supply sites and find yourself a push pole head then go by yourself a piece of closet rod (most heads are set up for this diameter) I suggest the pole be around 8' to 10' in length push pole yourself to get in and out of shallow water and drop your motor and run when its deep enough.

Good largemouth fishing can be had by push poling as well. I got stuck back here several times.20150530_093527.jpg

Best little mud motor out there is the http://www.stump-jumper.com/ perfect for a 2 man jon boat.
Look in the gallery you will see my stump jumper on a Ambush ocean kayak in the back bay.
The mud can be real bad in spots, I use hip waders with a push pole in the boat I have now.
Good luck!

stump jumper is a step up in quality, but Mud Skipper works great to move my big butt around.
