How Fast can a Mt.Lion Kill a Deer?

Think about that video at 4am when you are walking to your deer stand this fall Lol. Or better yet when you are bleeping and rattling antlers.

Atleast that was quick. Makes me feel better that if Mr. Kitty takes me one dark morning I will not suffer long!!

I have a feeling that cat has done it before. Deadly accurate throat grab. Anyone having second thoughts about spraying doe urine on your shoes? Geez. Looked like my dog on a meat scrap.

The first video is credited to calguns Vaderspade!

Bad ass killer

Those reflexes... Seen one of them cats at distance. First and hope my last time I see one or run into one for that matter. I don't have the nerves to deal with one.

Not sure I'd call that quick. Attack happens 10s in and the doe is still fighting for breaths almost a minute later when the video ends. Can't let you get too comfortable when walking in at dark 30 ;) A single well placed bullet is the best death any wild animal could hope for, I guarantee it.

This post got me thinking. Question, I have never seen a lion out in my numerous early morning trip to CNF. But I did have a run in with a coyote while turkey hunting, which, although stayed out of range for #5 turkey loads, did hold his ground on numerous occasions. I usually carry a sidearm in 45 caliber, which I fill the mags with hollow points. These hollow points are lead based, am I allowed to carry lead based bullets, even though I'm not hunting with them? Or do I need to spend more money and buy copper only rounds? Any thoughts. Thanks

Mark,

In essence you are hunting, if you shoot a coyote with your handgun.....Which is not illegal to shoot with lead.....When 2019 comes around, it will be illegal to shoot anything with lead.

ps.....Shooting a coyote with a shotgun does require non lead ammo.

Steve, my initial thinking was in self defense, based on this posted video, not necessarily hunting either species. Had I of dusted the coyote with my turkey load, it would of been with current non toxic pellets. Always appreciate you input and expertise.

If you shoot a lion you better make sure that thing is basically eating you. Very hard to defend yourself in CA court for shooting a cat.

Mark, given that a pistol is a legal means of take and coyotes are always in season, DFW might consider it hunting even if the animal charged you. Seems to me you'd have an uphill battle making a claim of self-defense in the situation you describe, unless I am mistaken.

Maybe my question wasn't written well. I was questioning if it was OK to carry lead based ammo for protection in my sidearm, not the legality of shooting any animals. I understand Steve's point, that I was basically hunting, but I would of already of been carrying a weapon with the appropriate ammo for that game.

Mark,

This BS is so confusing it's ridiculous......Just know it's OK to shoot a coyote with your hand gun....And right now, it doesn't matter what ammo you have.

ps...Well, unless you're in the condor zone, state wildlife area, or refuge.....
