They say be careful what you wish for...
So I've lived and hunted in D16 my entire life. On a whim I thought I'd put in for D12 this year, knowing I had about a snowballs chance in Blythe to get drawn. Well, like I said...
Anyway, (and I know this is frowned upon in the forums) I'm asking for a little help. I'm no newb, and I've been in the dez plenty, but I've never actively hunted it for anything other than yotes and jackrabbits. I've got a bit of an idea where I want to go for a starting point, and I am well aware of the concept of finding good sign and scouting. And I'm not asking anyone to give up a secret spot. Just maybe a few bread crumbs to get me going in the right direction? What do ya say? Anybody wanna throw an old dog a bone?
(Flame protective suit in place.)
Oh, and feel free to PM if you wanna give me a word or two of wisdom outside the prying eyes of the World Wide Web.
Thanks guys.

Someone else on here got drawn & I posted some info....It's big country, but I can tell you that the water courses east of the East Highline is where I saw the most deer....Heck, there were 2 does at Wister about a week ago.

You may want to contact Leon Lusicka (Desert Wildlife Unlimited), Steve Dickerson (Dickerson Towing in Westmoreland) or Rick Francis (Wister Wildlife Area Mgr).....They MAY throw you a bone....;)

Thanks ils, I appreciate your reply. Believe me, I have tossed that thought back and forth about contacting Leon Lesicka. First I think I will, then I think about all the other dudes just like me who've done the same thing and I think why would anyone want to help without even knowing who I am? Trust me, I actually tried to come back and delete this thread right after I posted it! HA! No, I get it... No free lunch. I've got a couple starting spots picked out and I'm gonna get out there as soon as I can and get boots on the ground and start looking around. I guess what I'd like to do is bounce those spots off someone and see what they think before I head out there. Anyway, thanks again for the input.

I scouted and hunted it last year, found a ton of deer, but no shooter bucks.
Spent 5 days in November out east of glamis , had one evening 17 deer fed in front of me at 130yds. for 2hrs and no effin shooters showed their face.

Although we didn't even fire a round, it turned out to be great hunt, put over 100 miles on the jeep and spotted around 85 deer in 5 days, also saw some rad country and ate like kings. Will definitely put in for it again.

Good Luck!!!!

Thanks for the reply. Wow! Sounds like a great hunt, even if you didn't get a shot off. Part of my plan is to go back up into some of those foot traffic only washes to try to get away from atv/jeep trails. Thanks for the intel and stoking the fire.
