I purchased a PSE brute force lite. It should be here next week.. I went to 3 archery shops in the county in the last month. Explained i was new to archery and knew nothing about compound bows. The first one was ok. It seemed like since i said i wasnt buying today i wasnt worth the time. The second one was like i walked into a pissing contest. It seemed as if it was a club house with one alpha male and some pups hanging around jajjajaja. Again I guess money talks. Not spending? Not getting any help. The one that made a lasting impression was Performance Archery. A gentleman by the name of Taylor helped me. He let me shoot a bow explained more to me in 20 min than i have learned off the internet in the last 3 months. He was very helpful, patient. My hats off to this guy. All though i didnt purchase my bow from Performance Archery he said he would be more than happy to help me with anything needed in the future. I will be doing business this this place from here on out, and with sales rep Taylor in particular. I am so excited to get my bow and start shooting hopefuly take it on a hunt next year.

I know the shop you are talking about with the alpha male. Glad you found a place that helped.

When I moved to San Diego, that is the shop I decided to go to as well. Great people, I do all my archery purchases from there.

@Lungpopper i bought a new one. I am so excited to shoot it. When i shot the bow at performance archery it was a rush man. I was shaking my adrenaline was through the roof. @Truduct it was funny more than anything. I didn't say he was a bad guy or the shop was a bad place. I wasn't treated bad or anything. It was the impression i walked away with. I have no doubt its a great place. I was just impressed with the service at performance archery. I've read bad things about them, but i had a great experience. About 3 months ago i took my wife to The Gun Range San Diego in clairemont to buy a gun. The first sales rep she was talking too. Seemed to hate his job. I was pissed. I don't let anyone disrespect my wife. Had to be quite my wife was telling my to calm down. She said maybe he's having a bad day. Another sales rep stepped in and was totaly respectful and patient. Because of the second guy we purchased the firearm. Great place maybe the first dude was on his period i don't know. Long story short it was an impression i walked away with. Anyways i feel like a kid waiting for christmas morning

Why did you buy online?

Bows are not like most hunting gear. They require a lot of setup and tuning in the early stages. When you buy from a local store you don't just get the bow. You get countless trips to the shop to setup and get your new bow shooting right.

Are you going to pay a local shop to setup your bow?

@Aeon tried to reply dont know what happened. Anyways yes i plan on paying the guys at performance archery for anything i need. I plan on going to their range quite a bit. I also plan on going to the range at Balboa park.

I couldn't pass up the online deal. I try to shop local as much as possible. Its kind of like grocery shopping. I would love to support my local neighborhood market, but that is finacialy impossible. I do buy my beer, avocados, and charcoal there. Lol. Ive been doing a lot of reading and researching. Performance archery was the last place i went to about a week & a half ago. I told him i would be buying online. I asked if they would be able to help me with setting it up and whatever else i needed. He said absolutely.

Cool hope it works out. There are shops for every one. I went to a few different shops also when I first bought a bow up at bass pro. When I went to performance archery they explained it was set up wrong for me. They dialed it in for me and bob gave me some quick lessons. Then left me to shoot on the range. He came back 20 min later and said getting better. He didnt charge me for anything even though I offered all he asked was I come in whenever I wanted to purchase anything and if I had any questions. A year later I bought a Hoyt Carbon element from him. Been going there ever since. Nothing wrong with purchasing online but you will need to take it in and get it set up. Buy the arrows and broad heads from them and you will be good! Good luck!

It's unfortunate your first two encounters weren't great but I'm glad you stuck with it. Archery is an amazing sport and absolutely worth the time, money and frustrations that are part of it. Welcome to archery!

@jfrog i am so excites about archery its all i think about. I feel like a kid again waiting to outside and play. On wednesday My wife called me at work and said my bow was just delivered. I left work early and went to the range. Went again yesterday. Going to the swap meet this morning for some military camo for a hunt. Then back to the range. Ill probably hit the range 3 to 4 times a week. Almost completely forgot about my guns jajajjaja My wife asked if i even like them anymore. Jajjajaja
