Whitewings and Mournings and Euros oh my

I think the valley has dove everywhere honestly guys. Yes, they gather near city limits and feed yards but if you just drive around you should be able to harvest a limit pretty quick. Good Luck to all hunters and remember please follow all unwritten rules... don't trample farmers crops, pick up your trash, don't drink n shoot, don't leave mountains of dove feathers in fields, blah, blah, blah..

I tend to care about this because when pheasant season comes around farmers are already pissed about dove season that they will post up more and more fields... and sooner than later a private club will come to the valley and cut a deal with the farmers and that will be the end of tailgate full of dove and gallos for free. This are just my thoughts please don't go crazy with your replies, do you think this could happen?

Agreed very much. Some of my favorite spots are now posted, likely due to folks doing exactly that. I clean up after myself always, but I can't help but notice all the spent shells and trash from others everytime I go down there. And with the increasing number of hunters, we've all got to do our part to ensure continued access for hunting.

Richard,

Totally agree.....Mendel Woodland (Mendel's Pheasant Club) is probably beating the bushes as we speak.....

Very true Steve, I started seeing the company truck driving around town a while back. Looks like he has acquired a few fields on the west side of the valley west of Forrester rd. and near the desert edges southwest of valley also. only thing I don't like that they even strung up a "no trespassing" sign on the dirt road. I've heard of a few guys that hunt the adjacent fields he plants roosters in for an easy meal, not my cup of tea but for them it works.

anyways, moving on... good luck guys hunting them doves. Stay tuned I might make a t-shirt featuring IV Dove hunting 2017

I clean up after myself and many other hunters as I am sure we all do trying to keep places from getting posted. The only slight benefit I have found is when I find a big pile of shells in an area and clean it up , it goes onto my scouting notes to keep an eye on. If slob hunters only realized that their secret spot is being given away by all the evidence they leave they might think twice about doing it... but maybe not.

That's true, except the real slob hunters are usually opening day only type guys....They could care less about burning a spot....Check out Wister or the Heritage Fields sometime after the dove opener.....

It will happen. More and more fields are posted each year. Sadly it seems the one day hunters don't care just those of us who cherish the hunting freedom in the valley.
