IMG_20170917_111036_409.jpg Went scouting for deer up by azusa last weekend. Actually found a nice little pocket with a ton of sign, cut 4 different tracks n found some scat less than a day old.. But the more than a couple of times i came across a track that was always relatively close to the deer tracks i was following, only thing is i have no clue what it was..

It looked like three fingers outstretched side by side. I actually put my fingers on top of a couple just for comparison. They ranged from a couple inches to about 4 inches long on the largest track. Seemed to have a pretty short stride, about a foot for the longest stride i saw between steps...Figured id pop on the good ol forum and see if you fellas had any idea what it was..

Thanks fellas,
Good hunting!

Does it look anything like this? If so... Cover them up and leave them alone for a few seasons.

I'm betting it's a turkey that has strayed a great distance due to the good rains this past winter/spring. My other guess would be rabbit.

Thats what i thought originally but they werent splayed out . it looked like if u wer to open ur trigger, middle , and ring finger and press them on the ground.. Weird lookin

No the track was more round an looked like what it would look like if you strerched out your trigger, middle , and ring finger. Kept them together and pressed them on the ground.. One set was about the same size as my fingers only shorter , about 2 1/2 inches maybe 3 ..

Maybe a deer or other critter that stepped in its own tracks? Or someone's hiking around Azusa pressing 3 fingers into the ground..

Hah ya if they managed to float. The only boot tracks where i was where from me , was back pretty deep. It was interesting, seemed to follow almost the same path as the deer sign but much shorter stride and would be basically off to the side/ mid stride of the deer track

Was it near water at all? If so, can be a heron. Or some other large bird if the ground was a little wet. Maybe turkey vulture.

Could be a turkey. I do know that general area. I won't say any more.
