Good Evening,
My wife and I plan on buying some property in the near future for a vacation/investment property. I want something that I can either hunt on or nearby. And a place that gives me the best opportunity for the most variety of game meat. So far we are stuck on Colorado, but my question was in reference to Utah. How is Utah, in regards to game variety, what area's (Northern, Southern, etc.)?

I cant answer your question about Utah specifically but I wouldn't worry so much about variety that is available, but what can you actually draw tags for.

You could have elk and deer in your backyard, but it could be a draw tag and take years just to hunt close to home.

Just to dumb up your answer, you are saying it's easier to hunt Colorado?

Utah is generally considered a trophy hunting state vs an opportunity state - meaning there are great animals but drawing a tag may be difficult and you may not be able to hunt every year. AZ has good opportunity (depending on method and species), CO has good opportunity, ID has good opportunity and MT has good opportunity. If I was going to move to a western state to hunt every year in my free time I would pick one of those states. Others may weigh in differently.

X2.

Is bird hunting important? Also what type of birds you like hunting.

If you need any Colorado info shoot me a PM.
