In San Diego where I've spent most of my time scouting and hunting for deer it seems like there's a bigger concentration of scat and prints around Engleman oaks that are dropping acorns than the black oak and live oak acorns. Has anyone else noticed this or am I reading into it too much?

I have always thought they liked black oak best, then Engleman's....But, I do think they like all acorns to be honest.

Pic is of an Engleman the other day....BIG acorns.

Englemans Oaks are getting rare and are only in San Diego far as I know. just beware of the poison oak and poison sumac that like to grow under and near it. LOL i got nailed one year because setting up a tree stand and there were stems sticking out the ground with no foliage on it, turned out to be poison sumac. had to get a shot that year LOL.
