What a Day!....Ducks & Bucks

I read that crap. It’s kind of sad how many people don’t know what’s legal. It’s like they make there own rules up in there heads and then believe it. Not only believe it but try to push there idea on other people.
Clearly that’s why the regs are printed out on paper.

Sounds like a great day! I would have definitely taken that buck too. As for the people on that Facebook group, other hunters can be our own worst enemy sometimes...sad.

Guys,

Thanks for having mine & Tanner's back....I requested to get on that Facebook group to explain why that buck was legally taken.....Still haven't got the OK.....Probably tells me a lot about that forum.

ps.....Just watched a whitetail show on The Sportsman channel.....They take a buck out because it had a big spike and was hurting other bucks.....Pretty much same issue here.

Folks like this are trophy oriented and have not studied the biology of the herd and don't understand that you are improving the herd by getting rid of the bad genetics. He also does not get the fact that the young poor quality animals are better on the table. IMO people like this are folks with a lack of knowledge and too much time on their hands. Please feel free to post my response on this guys site

Started with an invite from close friend Greg Caso (owner of Apex Plumbing) on his #1 draw for San Jacinto W.A.......Josh his SIL and Tanner were also along for the hunt.....The 12:30 am wake up call came early, but that's the routine for our public area waterfowling.....SJ didn't disappoint.....Beautiful morning, actual decoying birds, and 28 ducks (20 widgeon) by 10:00 am this time of year is a fine day.....Really fun.

After lunch, Tanner said, "Hey I sure would like to get a meat buck, it's been awhile"....I said, I have just the buck for you....lol....This buck has been kicking every other buck out of the area and he's got that screwed up gene with the big body, but small antlers.....We get to the mountains at 2:00 pm and it was about an hour before we see the 1st does. At 3:30 pm, the targeted buck runs down the mountain, but gives no shot because he's chasing a doe and tiny spike....Right back up the mountain.....30 minutes later here he comes again chasing a doe.....This time he stops and Bingo!....Tanner let's him have it.....At least a 3 or 4 year old buck with barely legal antlers.....Well, he should be a good eater.

Long day, but well worth it......A few pix
