    Crazy morning...

They are navy seal students, I had 2 walk 50yds from my stand last week, then 30 minutes later 20+ in a single file. None saw me and I could have hit them with a rock. I was hoping they would bump the deer around but nada.

    "Hello KITTY"

I saw one on the road in broad daylight in Laguna driving around with my lady, I turned a corner and thought it was a big coyote until I saw the tail.... walking back to my truck in the dark has not been fun ever since.

    D19 marijuana groves?

Isn't growing basically legal now? Why bother hiding in the hills with guns when you can grown in your back yard.

Where to try on some new boots?

I'll take a look at the Hard Scrabbler. I have 2 bigger hunts planned this year in pretty rugged terrain but 90% of my hunting will be local so I'd rather buy for what I'll be using most. The high boot interests me for ankle support for side hilling and steep hiking. Lowa's look good as well...

    Scent control???

I found that Dr Bronners soap has a baby formula or unscented that does a really great job of removing smell, and if it's worth it to you, shower with it rather than anything with perfumes. You can probably also wash your clothes with it, shave, brush teeth, etc. You can find it at health food...

Where to try on some new boots?

Thanks guys. I've been looking at Kenetrek Mountain Extremes, Danner Elk Hunter, Scarpas and Crispis. I have Danner Pronghorns and they thrashed my feet after days of sidehilling and steep terrain last year in Idaho so I've been looking for a more rigid boot. Sounds like Kenetreks are a local...

Where to try on some new boots?

I'm looking to get some new boots for the upcoming local season and for an Elk hunt in Idaho and would like to try some on before purchasing. Is BassPro in Rancho Cucamunga or Cabelas in AZ the closest places? I'm seeing that most online stores allow for returns if the fit isn't good but I'd...

    New to hunting on land.

I kicked up a covey just today scouting in east county. There is tons of water and apparently birds! Go hike around and you'll find what you're looking for, these were in some high sage brush on the edge of some oaks. I was looking for bigger birds but am happy I found some of the smaller ones.

    Recipe Tester: Deer

I've never tried it but I saw a recipe for venison(or anything) heart pastrami the other day and it looked amazing (here it is: http://thehungrydogblog.com/2015/03/how-to-make-beef-heart-pastrami/). I've made a ton of tuna, yellowtail, venison and beef jerky at home with my dehydrator and I've...

Tried a new spot and didn't do well. Got 2 but grabbed 20+ maybe more. Wondering if the warm water is effecting their growth.

I dropped off a pig at Bishers in Ramona last year and they did a great job.

Hey everyone! New guy here. What do you do to keep your kills as fresh as the day you shot it?

I've burned out a few food savers with fish, I've found if you are doing a large amount to make sure you give the motor a break every once in a while. What I'll do is make a bag, fill it, seal it, label it, then place it in the freezer. This gives enough time to let the motor in the sealer to...

    Mt. Lion kill in campground

I saw a lion on one of the backroads of Laguna a couple months ago. I drove down to one of the dead ends at a trailhead, turned around and was heading back to the main road when I turned a corner and about 100 yds up I saw what I thought was a coyote. Then I saw the long tail and it jumped high...
