Hoping we get a few reports from the field.
I’m sitting out opening weekend (crowds, drama) but will be out stalking a D16 buck by next weekend.
Any reports? Shots heard? Bucks in trucks?
San Diego removed trash pickup from being included in our property tax (without lowering property taxes). Now it will be billed separately at $40/house/month (previously it cost the city $8.65/house/month but now we supposedly all get better service). Of course, they are also considering a...
Now I’m thinking that guy was just posing in front of the camera. Where he sat down wouldn’t have been a good place to view the area. Probably didn’t even know a deer had gone by earlier.
Hoping my camera is still there. Two undeveloped/dark picks tried to come through right after these and none since. If my camera checks in tomorrow morning then it’s still there.
I must have been out of the loop for a while because this is the first I've heard of a hunting opportunity by Lake San Vicente.

Glad to hear those 5,000 acres are taking steps toward full hunting access.
Naked Bird Law: (here's my guess) don't fully pluck a bird while in the field. No way to identify it.
Does not apply to pigs (keep the head with you and tag on pig's ear)
Ranger: What's that naked bird you are holding?
Poacher: It's a mountain quail, it's quail season
Ranger: It's January...
Related question: does anyone know how OnX maps identifies water springs?
There is a natural, year-round spring in an area where I hunt (water comes up out of the ground and its not from anywhere uphill). OnX has this spring marked. I am thinking OnX must be using thermal satellite imaging to...
I thought your visitor might be more menacing. But then again, quail are startling when a covey takes off from cover.
My cell camera had a visitor. I’ve had it in this general area since July and to day was my first lion pic.
Unless there is another set of caged tom’s in SoCal, those tom’s are caged by a former judge. I guess he likes putting things in jail.
But those tom’s do seem to get conjugal visits. I’ve seen many hens in the open yard with his Guinness fowl.
If it’s a one-time safari then consider renting binos. For example, lensrentals.com (less than $100/week for top of the line). Also check with the safari guide. They may have a rental program.
This image came from my cell camera without any other pics before or after.
The hen looked too much like a decoy, so I requested a high res image from the camera. It shows that she’s definitely a hen and must have been alone on a fast moving mission to get somewhere.
