Whats up y'all, I have not been active on the site at all this year, except for a couple quick pass to lurk. I've been pretty busy with a new job (sing January) and the training has consumed ALL my energy, both physically and mentally, I have basically gone off grid and avoided social media...

    A16 - how'd it go for everybody?

Great story, sounds like it was a nice hunt even with the road troubles and tag soup...if everything goes well and smooth, things are not as memorable. :)

    National Forest closures

As it was already mentioned, there is a lot of fires out there and resources (fire crews) are stretched thin and working extra hard...it's been long hours with the minimum rest possible. There are crews driving up and down the state and on our mountain roads...now, yes it sucks that the forests...

    Hunt Shape

I work with a wildland firefighting crew and during the off season we train with our packs filled with a few gallons of water and dump the water at the top of the hill so the way down is a little less stressful on the knees. I also do a lot of Hip/knee/ankle mobility and stability exercises...

    Halibut suggestions

I've never had Alaskan halibut but the California halibut I try to pull out of the heat while it's still slightly raw in the middle and let it finish cooking on its own heat...Lately i've been keeping the skin on and one fish I just cut into steaks (keeping the skin and bones on) it helps it to...

    Hunting Partner A Zone

Go hiking in the areas you plan to hunt...hike it often to get familiar with the land and look for signs. Youtube has lots of videos to teach you how to break down a deer, packing it out takes more physical conditioning than skills. I got lucky last season and shot a deer close to my truck, so...

    First father daughter squirrel hunt!!!

That's so awesome! My boys are 7 and 11 and love to get out there whenever they get a chance...they started shooting nerf guns, then pellet, 22LR and both can shoot the AR fairly well.

    Quarantine jack hunt

I see a lot of recommendations for stew/crock pot type recipes but I don't like how the backstrap turns out...texture gets weird and the taste even worse. I usually pan fry the backstrap and loins and debone the legs. makes good tacos. I gotta give another shot on the slow cooking methods.

    Hoarding Euros?

I have not shot anything but there is a whole bunch of them that come feed on the seeds I leave for the wild birds on my backyard...if the need ever comes, there will be some fat birds available!
