Another year of Coues hunting in the books, this year brought interesting challenges. The full moon was worry some we expected a difficult hunt. Interestingly enough we found anywhere from 5-30 bucks a day (mostly spikes and forket horns). We found a few bucks we wanted to target but had a difficult time relocating them, the bigger bucks seem to show their face and then disappear not to be seen again. We filled 3 of 5 tags and had a great time hunting with friends. And yes! We even road hunted as dad is getting up there in age and is not as mobile as he used to be. I was able to shoot a decent 3x3, I’ll post a picture next to a 102” buck for reference. All in all it’s always a great time in Coues country, we were able to backpack in several nights which is really the only was to chase these little critters.
