Hit the IV 2 days this week.....Weather was actually pretty good....High 80's to mid 90's early.....We left both days around 9:00 am with plenty of birds (40 1st day, 70 2nd day with 3 guys).

Both days friends were training their new dogs (Boykin & Brittany) to retrieve.......Both started out shaky (owners fault), but by the end of our shoot, they were both retrieving pigeons and doves back.

Good amounts of mourning doves and white wings starting to show in the wheat fields.

ps.....Can't wait to get back out there, but it does take something away from the traditional dove opener.

pss.....Sorry for the photo shop.....Even Plaster City has secrets......lol

So can you just pull into any field and start shooting? As long as its not posted?

Pretty much....If you're near houses, then you either get permission or move off a 150 yards.....Another law in the IV that's rarely enforced, but is in place, is 50 yds from any county or state road.

Way to go! That dog's stare is piercing, beautiful. Opening day is still special to me because of the comraderie with so many fellow hunters. Plus, the mournings are so much smaller and faster than Euros it's a different hunt. You guys smoked em, awesome!

Technically you need written permission to hunt on someone's private property but in the IV it doesn't seem to be enforced much.

Nice shoot Steve......

The IV is special......If not posted, its legal to hunt even thought it's Ag
