Well since I have moved here to NC in May I have been trying to make the best out of the hunting and fishing here on the East coast. The humidity is something else that I could have never imagined and the mosquitos are the worst I've ever dealt with in spots. I'm sure when I go to this one spot even spraying myself with repellent and using a thermacell I come out looking like I have severe chicken pox. I have managed to catch a big blue catfish and a nice size Flat head catfish. 2 species I have not caught before. The bass fishing is pretty good out here too. After a month of scouting and only getting does and spikes on my 4 trail cams I finally managed to get a decent buck on one of my cams. He is the only deer along with a coyote that I have picked up in the area. I have him on came just about every night he comes through and I have him on cam twice during daylight hours. The season started Sept 12 and I spent 30 hrs in the stand this whole weekend without seeing a deer but he did come through 930 pm on Friday night and 1130 pm on Saturday night. Its only a matter of time before he hopefully slips up and I have spent enough hours in the stand after this one deer. Tree stand hunting is defiantly different since I am use to covering ground in Cali and finding the deer instead of waiting on chance that a deer will come walking by but I'm making do. The dove hunting here was also better than I had anticipated it would be and although it rains every other day here that doesn't stop the doves around here surprisingly. I also got myself a little Jon boat to get myself into some good fishing aroundd here and with duck season around the corner I hope to get into some good duck holes as well. I will continue to update this post as time passes and I make the best of where I am at. Hope you all enjoy the post and the pics.

Great pics and thanks for the summary. Sounds like you are settling in. That buck will get stupid when rut comes. If you follow his trail you may come across his rub or scratch. Set up near that spot during the rut, and rattle some antlers and he'll come in begging you to shoot him in the heart. Or you can call. Bleats and grunts, and rattling are great ways to call in white tail if used sparingly.

Well it's been a 1 1/2 years since I've posted anything from NC. 1 1/2 to go then I'll be back in Cali. This last deer season I took a doe and a 8pt. Was after a huge 15 pt that was on base but another hunter got him before i had the chance. I also tried waterfowl hunting out here for the first time this year and have done decent. Hope you all enjoy the pics of my wife and I hunting and fishing adventures.

You sure are making the best of it out there! And thanks for keeping us in the loop. That buck you waited for sure was worth it. He is a dandy! And it looks like you are getting some use out of that SCH shotgun!

As always, we thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

Wow it's crazy how much rain California has received. When I left it was bone dry now everything is an ocean. The SCH shotgun is putting in work! Best gun I've ever owned!
