I have never shot a bow before today, but wanted to get into archery hunting. I read all the great reviews on SCH about this shop so I checked it out today.

I worked with Dave who was patient, taught me a couple of basics about shooting, and had me shooting really tight groups at their 8 yard indoor range. I was excited to hit the letter I was aiming at my first time ever shooting a bow.

Dave asked me my budget and I told him I want something good that I can use on an elk hunt next year. Lol. He set me up with the Bowtech Carbon Icon DLX which came with a Black Gold 5 pin Rush sight, Ripcord Ace arrow rest, TightSpot 5 arrow quiver, Octane 7” Hunter stabilizer, Carbon Peep and comfort wrist sling.

Picked up a fletcher mechanical assist and got 6 gold tip hunter xt 340 arrows.

Looking forward to this next adventure of bow hunting!
    -Jake

The Bow n Arrow shop has been a great sponsor of SCH on top of being an amazing archery resource. They wrote the book on customer service.

I ended up going back last Friday and buying my wife a Diamond Prism! This allows us to shoot together while the kid is taking naps on the weekend.

I get the practice, practice, practice! I have shot for at least 30 minutes every day since I got the bow and have been seeing a nice slow improvement on form and accuracy. After about 3 weeks of shooting I am consistently within a 1" target at 15 yards (8 out of 10 shots) and getting better at 30 yards (4 out of 10). Since I am working on form, I am not trying to stretch the distance too much because I don't want to create any bad habits.

I was thinking about buying some archery lessons for my wife for Christmas, any recommendations? We live in Poway.

Practice at 60. Steadiness at 30 yards is a completely different dog at 60. If your connecting at 60, 30 is nothing.

Ps your leaveing your self open for big time wife jokes lol

haha true. Yeah, my eventual goal will be to practice at 70 /80 yards, depending what I choose my first pin distance to be. Right now I am just focusing on form, working on getting the consistent anchor points and stance. I've only been shooting a bow for 3 weeks now.
