    National Forest closures

Saw this news as well. I got a new shotgun, steel shot, scheduled time off of work for a sep 10th dove hunt. This was gonna be my first try at dove. I have a spot off the 33 where I hunt rabbits and look for deer that are only ever does. Obviously this is In LPNF. I am coming out of Ventura, if...

    Local black powder vendors?

They are separate, I just mean since I didn't get a deer the last weekend of.the season I still have some options out there. I am not entirely sure how the additional hunts work but I was looking at the list the other day and saw Ventura and santa baebara on the list. Need to do more research...

    Local black powder vendors?

Do any of you do any of the additional muzzle loader hunts? I was just looking at some of the additional deer hunts and may be inheriting a muzzle loader soon. If this weekend doesn't work out for the end of D13 can always get out late with the muzzleloader. Just curious if anyone else has had...

    Hunting West of lake piru

Pruners are a great idea, small but effective. Thanks for the input on the Piru area. I will call the forest service as well to ask about any ins and outs of the area.

    Hunting West of lake piru

I definitely used a bit of gas this weekend, drove up to doughflats and got my jeep rightfully dirty, been clean far too long. Does anyone carry a machete with them out here? I know the philosophy is to leave no trace but lets be honest, most of it is dead brush anyway lol.

    Hunting West of lake piru

Been driving all around the southern portion of los padres, in and around the condor sanctuary. Mostly looking for access and any ground that is not so steep I can't walk it. Took the forest road North of Filmore and found a lot of oil gates closed. Ran into some other hunters and they said some...

Blm and Los Padres North of Filmore

Some great advice! Much appreciated! I will definitely hike around there and be careful of posted signs and the sanctuary, good tip on the orange too.

Blm and Los Padres North of Filmore

That is a good point. My plan is to drive up and hike in at the BLM land south of the condor sanctuary, there is this pocket in between the sanctuary that is not included in the boundary. Took a screenshot of the area and where I plan to enter.

Blm and Los Padres North of Filmore

Surprisingly, not a tremendous amount of private land between that BLM plot and the national Forest. Maybe I will give it a look. Sometimes local regulations are hard to find so I always like to ask around to see if there is anything I need to be aware of. I don't wanna hike with a gun in my...

Blm and Los Padres North of Filmore

Has anyone hiked in to Los padres North of Filmore? O have had this marked on my map for awhile now but haven't had a chance to get out there yet. If you go North through Filmore up goodenough road it dead ends into some BLM property, looks like you can hike in there or take a dirt road to...

Advice hunting near Alamo Mountain in D13?

That sounds promising. Thanks for the advice. Maybe next year I will go for archery. I have a 40lb recurve but would be more comfortable taking a longer shot with a compound so I need to upgrade.

Advice hunting near Alamo Mountain in D13?

Thank you for the advice. Not as familiar with those zones, any specific regulations I need to worry about or areas to stay away from. I have ONX but I always appreciate when people share unfriendly roads through private land where the landowners hate you for preserving our ecosystem by culling...

Advice hunting near Alamo Mountain in D13?

Ugh, doesn't sound like my scene, but perhaps as a base camp to hike in it would do.

Advice hunting near Alamo Mountain in D13?

I applied to a couple share hunts but didn't get the draw, I still have a D13 tag however. My plan is to go up mid season, camp at Twin Pines Campground, hike in and glass for a couple days around Alamo Mountain, my dad suggested the area from when he hunted many years ago. With no scouting time...
