6/13/18 leftover tags

July 2nd, or Aug. ? So if I got d16 as second choice can I still try and get a22 on that date stated above?

Since I didn't receive my first choice of G13, I was able to get a D16 tag as a first choice option without having to pay any additional fees, and I still have the option of purchasing a second deer tag. I may also purchase a D15 tag in the near future so I will have the ability to hunt from two different zones for most of October and November. So I now have an elk preference point, a deer preference point, and I was still able to select a D16 tag as a first choice, because I was unsuccessful in the lottery with G13.

I am brand new to all of this, never deer hunted in California and just moved down to Ramona. Anybody have any advice or places to start off at in D16? Thanks in advance for the help/advice.

Cleveland Nat'l Forest.. BLM.. CDFW Wildlife Areas.. those are your public land areas. Get OnXMaps, get hard copy maps, do some Google Earth research, and then get your boots on the ground. Then find the deer and their paths of travel.
