    Shotgun stand help

I have a US Hunter clip-on shotgun stand I got years ago. I need to find some more, but I can't find anyone that has them. Any help on a supplier? Thanks

    NorthKali B2

Four of us (Don, Dan, John and me, Jerry) met at the Coffee Creek Campground just north of Trinity Center (west of Redding) on Thursday, September 15th to set up camp. "Camp" was comprised of a 12 x 14' Outfitter's tent and all the necessary other "stuff" for a nice comfortable stay. As wet...

    John...I joined the group!

While down in Texas on an Axis hunt, I talked quite a bit with blkpowder hunter, aka Dan, about his antelope hunt. He was using Hammer Hunters and his description of the lungs of an antelope he shot convinced me I should try them. NBK has been on my case as well and I finally pulled the trigger...

    Kanati Rock Ranch, Rocksprings, Texas

A couple of members of our varmint hunting club have been going to Texas for the past couple of years and finally did the deed and purchased a 100-acre spread near Rocksprings, about 100 miles NW of San Antonio. Their dream is to turn it into a hunting ranch, and they have been working hard on...

    New muzzleloader...sort of

I've been shooting a 45 caliber Thompson Center Hawken for several years. From the threads on this site, I became good friends with Blkpowder Hunter. We met at the range a while back to do an eyeball meet. Shortly afterwards, he got me interested in match shooting. My first meet was interesting...

    WARNING - Traditions Nitrofire

A friend just bought one of the new Traditions Nitrofire muzzleloaders and asked me what I thought of it. I hadn't heard of it and when he described how it worked, I was HIGHLY skeptical. I am NOT a lawyer, but I am pretty familiar with California laws, so I did some research and found out this...

Barnes 115 gr TAC-TX for the 6.5 Grendel

This is a fairly new bullet that was designed by Barnes specifically for the 6.5 Grendel. No one seemed to be able to get their hands on any, but John at Fine Firearms managed to get two boxes for me. THANK YOU John! I loaded up a couple of ladders the other day and finally got to the range...

    My last cat...probably!

After our illustrious Governor here in Kalifornia slapped a ban on bobcats for absolutely no reason at all and against the advice of the Department of Fish & Wildlife, I figured I had better get out and get one last cat. A buddy and I went out a few weeks ago. The fourth stand produced "eyes" at...

    Traeger Smokers

If you want to get into smoking, look at the Costco Special Events schedules for Traeger Grills. They are some of the best. Since I live in a condo, I have a small one, the Junior Elite 20, but man does it cook! I also just picked up a bag of their Big Game pellets, which are red and white oak...

    Wyoming Speed Goats

I had a great opportunity this year to go to Wyoming to hunt antelope with four friends, one of whom has a cousin who has approximately 6,000 acres of land near Lost Springs (population 4) in eastern Wyoming. We also had access to many thousands of additional acres of public and private lands...

    Camo hunting jacket

I just ran across a hunting jacket that's pretty nice. I saw it on the TV show Predator Pursuit. I emailed Jeff Thomason, the host of the show, to get the brand. It's a Walls Ledgend. The camo is Realtree Xtra. I paid about $50 for it. Check it out on Amazon.com My comments: It's a fairly heavy...

    **SOLD**Smith & Wesson 686 Stainless 6" 357 magnum for sale**SOLD**

I have a 6" S&W 686 357 mag for sale. This is a heavy-frame revolver, sort of a smaller version of a "Dirty Harry". It has the magnum grips and target sights and is an absolute tack driver. This was my original duty weapon when I worked as a CHP officer so it has a few very slight wear marks...

    Deer season dog

A buddy and I were out deer hunting on the last day we had to hunt during last year's D-16 season. My buddy had a 7mm and I was shooting my Thompson Center Omega muzzleloader. We had to leave our stand at 10:30 so my buddy could make an appointment on time. Well, at 10:15, this big dog came down...

Need suggestions for the .224 Barnes 62-grain TSX BT

I tried to work up a load for the 62-grain Barnes TSX BT in my AR using H335 but it wouldn't pattern. It seems that H335 works better for the lighter bullets. Barnes suggests Varget or Reloder 15 for the 62. Anyone had any luck with something else? Suggestions? Thanks

    Thor muzzleloader bullets

Has anyone had any experience with Thor bullets? They are identical(?) to the Hornady FPB with the exception of being all-copper, and therefore legal in Kalifornika and Colorado. Basically, they are Barnes "X" bullets, a minnie-ball, with an expansion ring to seal the gasses when the rifle is...

    Man bites shark!

When/if you get your hands on some fresh shark, here's one of the best recipes I've ever tasted...and it's simple. Mix up a small bowl of mayonnaise, seasoned with onion pepper (or lemon pepper) and garlic salt. Mix well. Take some heavy-duty foil and turn the edges up to form a shallow pan...

    Here's "Lucky"

As requested, here is my new AR, Serial number SDCVC 007, aka "Lucky". The receiver was built by JD Machine here in San Diego. The lower parts kit came from Palmetto State Armory and the upper is an ArmaLite assembly purchased from Ammo Brothers at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show in Del...

Looking for a used left-hand, bolt action 22 rifle

I have a 13 year old grandson whom I have just introduced into shooting. I took him to the Escondido Fish & Game Association range last weekend for a Junior Shoot. They had one-on-one instruction and he had a ball. The only problem he had was that he's a lefty and all the rifles were standard...

    Coyote hides

Does anyone know a place in the Southern California area, preferably around San Diego, Oceanside or Escondido, that will take a coyote carcass or hide as a donation, rather than just shooting them and letting the buzzards eat them?

    Hunter recommendations

Here's a quick post for anyone thinking about a hog hunt in the Southern California area. In November, 2010, I went up to San Miguel (near Paso Robles) for a pig hunt with Bert Claassen. He charges $400 for a three-day hunt plus $200 if you kill a hog. You arrive on Day 1, check into his...
