ill be heading up camping with some friends and family at Doheny state beach, looking to soak a line from the shore. anybody got any pointers for that area. saw on the map they have some large jetty's surrounding dana point harbor???, any info would be appreciated.

Stevo,

It's been a long time since I've been there, but sand crabs and small plastics were the ticket for spotties, corbina, and perch.

Steve, during the spring a lot of nice halibut are caught there on hard plastic minnow lures. Lucky Craft, Yo-zuri, Bomber etc. 5” or 6” models. If there is a grunion run fishing can be really good. Stand on the beach or wade out a little and cast straight out as far as you can. Walk the beach and repeat and you’ll have a good chance of hooking a flatty. Good luck!
