If you were to pick one single state in the US to do ALL your hunting---upland, waterfowl, small game, big game---what state would that be and why? You don't have to live there, you just have to hunt there. Forget the price of licenses and tags, just fantasize and swing for the fence. My vote is for Montana because of the huge variety of game there, the open spaces, and the people. Sound off.

Hawaii...those were the days!!
I took 175 pigs, 30 mouflon sheep, 30 wild bulls [cattle], and about 25 turkeys during my 14 years there. But there is no waterfowl hunting and no small game hunting. I dream of HI all the time. What the hell am I doing in CA?

Serious dude..i spent 12 years as a young elementary school hatchet back in the 70,s there... .those were some serious learning years ..I was the only blond haired Haole kid around..and my 2:eek:lder brothers...good times!!.

Lots of wonderful memories in those photos, Steve. If I ever make it past the Pearly Gates, I hope heaven looks a lot like Montana.

Dr,

Those pix include 9 different bird species I've gotten (haven't bagged a chukar yet)...Left out dove...Cranes are now legal in our area by draw too...Big game didn't include pronghorn, bear, lions, bighorn, or wolf...And, how about prairie dogs....

Wyoming.... Ed F
Ed---Just for my education, what is it about WY that appeals to you more than MT? I have several hunting buddies that hunt the West and they tend to favor WY as well. I've never hunted there and maybe I should take a good hard look at WY when planning next year's hunts.

Great opportunities for all species for the resident bowhunters. Montana probably has the same. Ed F

Trig, If it weren’t for the wife’s medical situation I would likely be gone. Matt went to Montana State for 2 years I know what it’s like.

Alaska if I could be a resident I would hunt Dall sheep and goats DIY. Go toe to toe with moose, stack caribou, chase black bears, hunt elk on afognak, and hunt Sitka blacktail. Not to mention all the fishing.
