Just got back from hunting rabbits and scouting deer. Humped 3 hours in San Gabriel mtns and didn’t see any rabbits. Glassed when I could where I could and saw no deers either. Got back in my car and was on my way home when I decided to check out a spot before getting off the mtn. Driving and driving and what did I see? A doe crossing the road! Didn’t expect that. Now I know where to start scouting again. Rabbit(s) in the bag while doing so would be nice too. That’s hunting!

We went on this hike with the scouts... Sierra Madre I think it was? On this little two-lane road going up to the parking area... son of a B if there wasn't a 3x3 tending his Doe and she had a not fully grown doe child. And they were literally right there off the side of the road! I think they had just come back from probably finding water in the neighborhood by there. This was before we got all those rains. That was just KILLING ME to see that and have to pass it by. If I remember right, it might have been in...or just after bow season that year.

I soo totally would have gone back there and looked around. But you know... it's too close to homes, so off-limits... it's all the hikers driving into that pay to park area too.. so again, pretty sure that also made it off-limits. Killed me to have to drive-on by that sucker!

Definitely go back to where you saw that one cross the road. That has paid-off for me in D15.

If you can... try to pull over and really notice where they go once they cross to that other side. Look around for what features encourage them to cross THERE as opposed to anywhere else.
