Green-wing teal, Cinnamon teal, Blue-wing teal, & Gadwalls......All but blue-wing are very common in SoCal.....Let's see your pictures of the corresponding species.

blue wings in flight, another of my fav photos i have taken :)

if anyone can find my photo of the teal grand slam i shot i would be very appreciative. i know i posted photos of it but i cant find the original photo :(

 
Speaking of grand slams......Probably my finest limit......7 different drakes.....Pintail, widgeon, cinnamon, greenwing, bufflehead, redhead, and greenhead......Wister Unit, 312C-1.

Steve, what is the story with the gadwall while fishing? Found it dead? Or a cast and blast?

Nick,

Found it fresh dead at Lake Hodges bass fishing......It was a perfect specimen.

No band......I added Fulvous Tree Ducks in this thread(1st post), despite not being real common in SoCal. Those were shot at Wister.

Jesse....Thanks.....Fine specimens to ID from.

Also, don't forget to look for bands on those teal.....3 GW's & a cinnamon banded in the last couple of years.

Thanks Steve. Yeah that's one of the first thing's I look for after retrieval. Crazy that I even found this teal where he was. Lots of area and just decided, "let me stop and check here" and there he was... My first duck ever (not counting coots cuz that's nothing to write home about).

Cinnamon. I've shot more cinnamons than spoonies. I find that interesting.

Thanks! That's Bandit. He's on his 7th year in the field with me, we primarily hunt dove and pheasant. Last year we both had our first season hunting ducks and he was amazing. He put some of those high-dollar labs at the duck club to shame.

Nothing beats an early morning with your pup sitting next to you.
