Here we go,
I own a T/C compass on .308. I am happy with it, it does what I expect. Buying another compass on .243 will allow me to use the same magazine on both guns.
I have also heard great things about the Ruger American rifle and even better things about the Weatherby.
I know that opinions are always based on personal experiences and we tend to fall in love with some guns based on look and performance just to name a few factors.
The price difference is not huge, so I am not going to break the back going in one of the three directions.
What are your thoughts? Which one would you buy and why?

It's my understanding that Howa makes the rifles for Weatherby. The Ruger Americans have the copy-cat Two-stage trigger on them like Savages AccuTrigger. Personally I DEFINITELY recommend you check-out one of those bladed triggers! You will love it compared to a regular trigger! Your finger will just instinctively know from tactile feedback exactly when the trigger is going to break!

Having that 5 lb pull on that trigger
Will have an effect on the accuracy.
No doubt. Accu trigger is an absolutely
Big factor in better accuracy.
My T/C came with a 5Lb trigger. I personally did a trigger upgrade that lowered it to 3.5 Lb. It is crisp as a potato chip. At 5 Lb I was not comfortable.
Today I went to a store and checked the actions of a couple. The Savage and the Ruger. The savage has the same feeling as the one on my T/C. The Ruger felt awesome. Too bad they did not have any Ruger on .243
I will keep hunting for a sale Lee. Last year, with the rebate that T/C gave me, my .308 did cost me $ 200.00

Fabian,

With the little experience I have with a Ruger American trigger and the Savage Accu-Trigger....The Ruger American's trigger seems smoother....Stefanie's Savage Axis .243 did not come with an Accu-Trigger....But, I did shorten the spring and it's now at about 2.5 lbs....Deadly.

Again Hatchet1, I understand and I take every opinion seriously. As a matter of fact, you guys have way more experience than me.
The trigger pull is not a concern for me since I know that there are ways to work arround that. My concern is the smothness of the bolt when trying to eject an empty case and load a new round rapidly.
My T/C tends to hang/bind. I checked the Savage and does the same. The Ruger in my opinion was better. I tried a Weatherby On 300 Win Mag. and the bolt is smooth but wiggles a bit when it is open all the way.
do all bolts on these short action rifles wabble when they are completely open?

Thank you Steve,
I bought a special spring for my T/C and droped it from 5 Lb to 3.5 Lb. it made a hell of a difference.
I have learn a lot since I started this quest. I see that there is a lot of options on ammo for this caliber. Not as many for my .308. The lighter round will split a coyote in half.

Funny I have an older Savage edge
And the bolt is smooth. And very accurate. But that said you can not go
Wrong with either. You have to be comfortable. Go with the budget
You can handle comfortably.

Try them all , I don't like that wiggle either. But I would have to
Think about that myself.
@NBK should be the guy with
Right advice on that.
But myself I like tight precision.
And smooth.

All bolts will wobble when open.
Are you running the bolt on your TC dry or lubed ?
