Good news the retrieves are golden up to 3 blind retrieves when I work her right.
And will do a double retrieve if I lay it up right. She checks to make sure it doesn't move then hits my open hand and sits.....damn terriers!

Those two snakes don't appear to be rattlers so the scent thing comes into play. P.M or call me and I will share my experience with rattlesnake aversion training. Hope Ican help you.

How old should they be for aversion training? My pup is 5 months old and have somewhat started the aversion training by chance when we have encountered rattlers. 2 alive and one was dead. And then we have encountered 3 other types of snakes since. She already seems like she wants to avoid snakes.

Steve that's how I ve worked it for years......or I'll catch one and do the sight sound and smell then let it go.

You want the dog to be at least six months when using a shock collar due to the fear periods they go through when very young. From my experience I think it works best when they at about eight months to begin the aversion training process.
