We get a fair amount of wildlife that comes through our property. Couple of days ago, this red tail fox came in to successfully hunt a vole (mouse like rodent that burrows in the snow in the winter). We’ve only got 6-12” of snow left so now easy hunting for the fox. While the coyotes mimic this...

Went out with a buddy this morning on a 2 hr “hike” with the hopes of getting a good start for 2024. Bumped a nice covey of quail but not able to get a shot off. Didn’t have a dog with us this time so more challenging. Good weather. Happy New Year everyone.

Lots of Canadian Geese (~ 100) fairly close to the lake mid-day feeding. For anyone that hunted Henshaw today, did you see or bag any? Good luck…need some wind.

I looked at Henshaw after quail hunting this morning. There were a lot of ducks on the lake with some wind and a lot of ducks flying around. Quite a few wigeons. Good luck to those hitting it tomorrow…you might have some success. Would have included a picture but just to grainy with my phone.

Got into 4 nice coveys today. I went 0 for 3 and buddy went 1 for 3. I really despise the little bastards! The outing kicked my ass. Good luck to the others chasing them this season.

Nice to get out this morning for a couple of hours after the last storm. Birds were much less vocal than I expected. Managed to miss two and get two. Took a buddy out that hadn’t been all year and he had a blast. Was a gorgeous day out today in the backcountry. Lots of quail this season...

Went out today with a buddy. Weather was sunny with cool temps in the morning and probably low 60s by late morning. We had several missed shots between the two of us on VQ but managed to harvest a couple. Didn’t see any dove today.

Took dad out this morning in San Diego county. Conditions were great with light cloud cover. Dad was very happy, shot well, and harvested a couple of varieties. More quail out there than I've seen in many years.
