11-23-16 morning Quail hunt

We hit a covey of like 60 today we shot an shot an shot but only got 4 total all 3 of us got target feavor, it's been 19 years since I've been bird hunting man its fun I can't wait to go again.

How can you tell? That head on the male looks like a gambel's to me. But I reserve the right to be wrong lol

The head on a Gambel is very red (many call them redheads). they also have red barred sides.....The head on a valley quail is brownish and are scaled somewhat......Gambel hens have a little more red on their sides too.
