3 Days of D-16

Back after them this morning (cold & windy)......Hunted with the my Benelli guy......Surrounded by deer, but just can't find that 3rd point on any of them..... :-[

Another 3 days (actually 4)......The MCC rule of no forkies is tough since the dominant gene is forked horned bucks.....Saw more big guys yesterday in the rain.....

Stefanie gets one more shot to try and get a bigger buck.....This guy showed up yesterday on the ranch.....Probably not a contest winner (I'm not in it anyway), but a real beauty......

ps.....Starting to see more and more band-tails too...... ;D

The same scenario yesterday.....The big bucks just didn't show up......This guy got a pass from Stefi because he was so beat up. Hole in his neck (see 1st pic) and broken antlers.....There's so much competition for the does. These bucks are fighting like white-tails.....Even the little forky that came in was tattered.

ps.....It was so cold & windy, we left with about 20 minutes to go.....Saw a monster on the adjacent property (I have bow permish).....Too dark for a pic.....

Keep after them and hope that big boy shows up for you. The herd looks pretty good and can't wait to see what they look like next year.

Stefanie ended up taking the spike / forky Saturday......Thought he was busted off....Nope....Just an old buck that is probably regressing (he actually had 3 points on his spike side).....My friend the biologist is going to age him.....Almost no teeth left.
