Canada 2014

Man, that buck is unreal.........WOW!

Cool video.......I still love the old big foot decoys.......Wish I would've kept them instead of buying the GHG's (still have 2 or 3 dozen BF's up there). Although the wobblers are nice for movement.

We always try to find specs & honkers. But this year, we're going to target snows even more. Each year there seems to be more & more in our area.......60 dozen Silos & 2 rotaries going north....... ;D

I had the opportunity to go in 2012, with a friend of mine who freelances in Alberta every year. Pictures do not do it justice! On the way up, I got to see the Aurora Borealis, which is a first for me. The birds didn't seem to want to commit, so we didn't have huge numbers. But it's definitely worth it if you can make it up there. The people are fantastic, too, which just made the trip all that much better.

Tips for eating in Alberta: they dip their French fries in gravy up there like we dip them in ketchup. Try it, you'll like it! And, don't walk into Subway and ask for American cheese- they probably don't have it, and you just end up looking like a goofball!

Nice Don - When are you going back?

Steve - We shoot snows as a secondary option. Hunting snows up there is a timing thing for us. If we find a mixed field and it has heavy numbers of Canada geese we end up shooting some snows as a byproduct of that particular field. But we do try and target specklebelly's although they are a very weary bird and don't make for a great shoot if you like volume.

Nonetheless - Canada is a great experience and like Don said, the people are wonderful. I love it up there.

Below is a nice Eaglehead I shot in Canada a while back...

Don,

As your aware, it's not always about the numbers......Some my most memorable shoots up there weren't limits. In fact, it's really never been about the numbers......As freelancers, we have a good days and not so good days just like anywhere else......We do try very hard though.....lol

The people are wonderful. Like I stated earlier. Some of become very close friends.....They love San Diego and I love Alberta......I'd say that's a fair trade....... ;D

Started changing some snow silos to specs........10 dozen specks and 50 dozen snows should help........ ;)
