Saw a few does this morning on a hill off in the distance, maybe 1/4 mile. About a minute later i see this guys antlers in the early morning sunlight. Grabbed my pack and hoofed it over to where I thought they were headed. Came around a bend on the bottom of a hill and there he was with three does about 80 yards. He dropped on the spot. He had been fighting recently, one of his tines was broken and he had some scars on his face. His glands were stinky as all hell. He was the first buck I had seen this year and I might not be able to make it back out this season so I took the shot. Thanks to I guy I met named Oscar who helped me drag this dude back to my truck.

Nice work it's always good to put one down!

It may sound crazy but I don't mind that rutting smell very pungent. I always take
the metatarcel for hunting. I've had it bring in bucks with just one hit of the can call.
