Hi guys,

I got into archery about 10 years ago. I got pretty good and went for deer in AZ about 7 years ago but didn't get anything. Then I got busy with work and 6 years later I'm dusting off my recurve and working on getting out into the field this season.

I am looking at Zone D-14 for the upcoming Oct/Nov season and wanted to ask you knowledgeable fellows how I can tell which public land is legal to hunt. I looked on the DFG website but it wasn't too clear. If you can direct me to some links, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!
John

all so go to the nearest ranger station and buy a Cleveland national forest map. anything green is open. same on the BLM website. but I do recommend the Onxhunt app for the Smart Phone. but use all the above tools. Onx reported BLM land when it was private , nothing is perfect. so use it all . I do

@longbowhunter2, you recommended I get a Cleveland national forest map, but we're not planning on hunting near San Diego. Do you mean that all national forest maps show the legal public hunting areas in green?

Yes. The green shading indicates area within the National Forest boundary. Sometimes jurisdictions overlap so you might have state park or other land (National Park, Indian reservation, etc) within the boundary. Those areas will have a distinct border or shading to delineate them from NF land.

Oops yes Don is right. Any national forest map will be green and BLM will be yellow. Native American with a shade different, state parks are total lly different color. Private property will be white.
