Hunting Regulations

Hey guys, a quick but nonetheless important question which seems to elude my memory after reading the regulations:

How far off a road (paved or unpaved) do you need to be to hunt or discharge your firearm? Particularly roads in national forests and BLM lands here in California.

It only says not to discharge over/across a road. Or from within a vehicle, or while ON a road.

national forest have there own regulations CNF is 150 yards from road/building. as far as BLM each area or wilderness has there own regulations. best bet is to look where you are going to be and use Onx to reference the area and do some research.

There are multiple levels of regulation. For ANY area you hunt, know all of the rules and regulations that would apply.

DFW rules tend to be generalized for a species or hunting in general. Remember, these apply to HUNTING.

Discharge of firearms will be regulated at the state, county, and local level.

Local can include municipal rules within city limits, CNF, BLM, DFW wildlife area, DFW ecological reserve, etc.

You can have an area of the CNF that lies within a municipality and it COULD have more restrictive rules.

Not exactly....It's a 150 yds from any occupied dwelling, barn, or out building....You can not shoot across or on any named road (county or city)...No distance rule in San Diego Co. ..Imperial Co. has a 50 yd rule from any county road or state highway.

If I remember correctly the entire state of California forbids shooting from within a vehicle. Ya know.. drive-by's and all that.

Read each regulations up and down, again and again..
