hwey yall im sledgehammer (ryan) im new to the site and hunting in cali. ask i speak im gearing up for next season for bow hunting for deer i havent hunted in cali since i moved here by in 97 and im foaming at the mouth to bag a deer. i used to hunt ages ago in ohio when i was a kid and did a lil hunting (never bagged anything ) when i lived in colorado. so here i am the noob to the site and to hunting in cali , so if yall have any pointers or tips i reckin ill take them all and im also looking for new friendships in this hunting site :)

looking for bow hunting tips as in types of gear and bows ect ect are best in cali hunting and new hunting friendships
 
hey ryan im pretty new to the site as well ive been hunting a while its a good place to get lots of info. I have no bow tips since i dont bow hunt but i was thinking about for next year. It makes the season a lot longer. Im 35 this month with 3 kids so we are in the same boat. I live in north LA area. if you ever want to get out scout or anything else im always here.

how old are your kids? do they hunt?
 
I have 4 boys and no they Don't hunt yet the oldest will if talk to him. Bow hunting.... Well I'm more inclined to Do it up north scouting he'll Ya I'm good to go hit me up sometime

D11 boys and go high......lots of land to see.......backpacking is a must if you want a good one

And get those kids into hunting!
 
wheres d11 ? never hunted in cali so im completely lost when it comes to locations on the zones but i have been studing as much as i can i most likely will have alot more questions before next deer season hits lol

Check out some of the newbie threads. You need GOOD boots and maps. National Forest maps and BLM maps are very helpful for scouting on paper. Nothing beats beating feet so get out there and scout around.

https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/ - This will be your friend for the time being. Look at the game you're interested in, the regulations, and the map information they provide. It'll get you kickstarted in the direction you're trying to go.
