I have an older Leupold model VARI-X II. I want to play around with this scope but the friction dial doesnt indicate the MOA adjustments. Im thinking this is a 1 moa per half hash mark and 2 moa per each number. What do you think? vari-x.jpg

Can you Goole leopoid and get the manual? If not bore sight at 25 yards, take shot then make adjust then take another shot. Then visual the difference in distance and calculate this distance per click.
Forgot use 1 inch grid target. So you can see the distance between shot placement

I looked around, no manual that gives precise instructions for this particular dial. Most posts Ive seen about these scopes indicate it is 1/2 moa but the pics show twice as many hashmarks as mine. I was just hoping someone here might have first hand knowledge. Ill have to shoot it and go from there.

Just a reminder if at 25 yards that's 1/4 of the moa at 100 yards. In other words multiply by 4 to get the correct moa adjustment.

Dan,
Please post when you figure it out. This could be useful to someone in the future.

Can't help you with values of the adjustments, but have played around with some old Leupold scopes and the turrets tend to stick, not making their adjustment immediately. Then after they get jolted by the next shot going off they fall into their new location. Real PIA if you don't know what's going on. So if you start seeing that happen, give them a couple sharp raps on the side of the turrets after making adjustments, prior to shooting. That way you don't waste rounds chasing a ghost.

Call Leopold and ask. They are very helpful as I found when a rangefinder was misbehaving. The guy diagnosed the problem and told me to send it in. Two weeks later I had a brand new one.

Thanks for the replies guys. Ill let you guys know what i find out when i get a chance to shoot with it.
