We are all thinking about building a bunker and stocking it will toilet paper now!
prepping can have many aspects, to my belief is mostly being prepare for just like what is happening now,
are you growing food, do you have supplies to with stand food and medicine shortages. and much more.

If it had to be done, maybe call it "Survivalism" or something. But honestly, I think SCH Outdoors is at its best when it truly is about the outdoors... good ol' hunting and fishing. Introducing a prepper section may change the culture of the forum a bit.
here is a wrench in the works, what if there is a gasoline or diesel shortage like the 70's, no where to go.
or how about like the great depression, no money, no jobs, can't purchase food no less fuel, this is about thinking a head,
in the great depression "we the people must stand together to prevent" is were we are heading towards.
this economy has to get rolling.
one more scenario, prepping can be that little extra, if you lose your job, having that extra stored away for those dry spells, until one gets back on their feet.
and means whether food is on the table to feed the family, yes prepping can have many meanings.
trust me I was one of those middle class back in the 90's during canceling of military contracts, I was out of work for 6 months.
like I said prepping is a way of life for very rural residents, we do it every day, we are not near resources like in cities. so we have to store food, water and medicine.
and yes hunting is part of that, getting that extra tasty wild game.

There are some Ham's out there that could help organize and help. There are people who are stuck in suburbia that might have to bug out. Some people live in the country. If these people need a place to bug out to it might be nice to have a like minded person to bug out to. If you are in the country you have to sleep to guard your fortress, you are not safe from the marauders just cuz you live in the country. If you know of some body armor or 30yr food on special, water purification deals, Free lumber or fire wood.... you can share the info...
My suggestion isn't to take away anything from Hunting and Fishing. Someone like me has always been a little bit of a prepper, however now I have turn the volume up from 3 to 9. Things could go sideways in a lot of different ways. For example "my buddy is moving to Montana and he has to get rid of 100 chickens..." Or "my friend has prefabbed a roof and the financing has fallen through and he will drop all this lumber off at your house for free..." "my friend is closing down his shop and is selling all his steal and metal plus all his machinery...." Lots of things that don't apply to hunting and fishing could be passed along. Knowledge will be shared with like minded people and traffic to the website will probably increase...
It was just a thought that I had while I was reloading. Lots of things we don't think about are now being thought about and we all think a little differently
I agree with the above. I have nothing against prepper or adding a prepper forum to this site but I think it just doesn’t fit here. It would be like adding a forum on bird watching. While bird watching is an outdoor activity it wouldn’t really fit the outdoor hunting/fishing theme of this site. Just my 2 cents worth.
Thats a great point! My counter point to that would be that "Hunting and Fishing" can be part of survival and feeding the family. Bird watching doesn't really add to that and most bird watchers are not like minded. Hunting and Fishing are burned into man....I guess bird watching is too..but we are trying to figure out how to catch it kill it and eat it.
Hunting and fishing is definitely part of a form of prepping. Stocking the freezer with wild meat.
Again I don’t really care if a Prepping forum is added or not. I know there would be some interesting topics on such a forum That I’d checkout. Hunting and fishing , the great outdoors are only one small part of prepping. Prepping is a very broad topic. A few of the thousands of prepping topics unrelated to fish/hunt include - Financial prepping, self defense prepping, gardening prepping, digital prepping, off grid/green technology prepping, homestead prepping etc. etc. etc. That’s just a very small example of prepping not related to topics on this site. I don’t think a Prepping forum would negatively affect this site I just don’t think it’s a good fit here. I don’t know for a fact but I’m sure there already are a zillion sites out there completely dedicated to prepping. I’m some what of a prepper at heart. I consider myself more of a survivalist although I know survivalist is included in Prepper. Ill just wait for the powers that be to decide if a new Prepper forum should be added. I’ll remain a big fan of this site what ever forums are added.

Larry had good intentions but he couldn’t roll with the punches and he loved to ask for advice, and then bitch and moan about the advice given. He also had a knack for writing ridiculously long posts about nothing.
There are a zillion sites out there on prepping. Part of the reason I brought it up is because most of the people on this site are like minded. I had to make sure when I posted the idea that I had ducks in order. I was thinking of it being more as a refining and "friend" thread. Idea's that can be expanded on or whittled down for the people in this forum. I don't personally know you guys. However I have been posting on this site for a few years and have fished with some of you and hunted with some of you. I met sprig one day at Henshaw on opening day for ducks. I have come to like and admire most of you. I would go to bat for you. I would open my door for you in a SHTF scenario.
Personally I am screwed. I have 14 million people I would have to wade through get out of here. I have to hunker down and wait go "GrayMan" and wait. But for some of you, you might have a place to go, a place to meet up. Less of a burden on a single individual...
Regardless of the out come of the idea whether it fits or not on this forum I felt like it would be a good topic to bring up. Maybe get some of you thinking a little different but I did think that it might have a small place on the site for some critical survival "oh no what do I do now" thinking.
Those freezers full of wild game are gonna need some help keeping frozen if S does HTF.......
