Got out early this morning and spotted two groups of elk. Problem was these elk were on the nieghbors property. Started glassing the opposite direction and spotted some elk about three miles away and on the property that we are hunting. Drive over to the bottom of the mountain that they are on and make a plan to put the sneek on em. 1640 yards all uphill. Worked our way up opposite side of the ridge and crossed over 300 yards under them. When we crossed over the ridge the wind changed directions right to them and we were made. They started to leave and it was time to start shooting. Skinny hunter, Rusty, JP and I all filled tags. Hope the rest of the group can fill there tags tomorrow.
Game plan has been made for the morning hunt. The elk are just starting to show up and hopefully come down the mountain. Should be a fun morning no matter...
Yep he does deserve a cocktail for sure - or something like that.
We worked 3 groups of elk today. One group did not cooperate and come off the neighbors property and the other two groups were just to high to go after on the second day of the hunt. They will be our reserve elk if we can't find any easier ones to shoot and extract.
Hopefully we will get into some in the morning...stay tuned.
We will try and post up some more pictures too. The coverage here is brutal.
What no beers in the UTV? That's the one thing that helps motivate me to get the meat off the hill quickly.......must be nice to pass on ones on the Mt. hope it doesn't bite you in the arse.....
We are watching 26 elk right now. Wind is right and the elk are up high in the same spot we left them yesterday. Haven't decided to commit yet. Below is Lungpopper coming off the hill with 2 front quarters, neck meat, tenderloin, rib meat and backstraps all in his Kuiu 1850. He is an animal!
