Just got back from the Sierra's.....If you haven't been there, you need to take your family.....Weather is cooler the higher you go and the fishing is great.
Friday we went to the Upper Owens.....Lots of folks around Benton Crossing, but practically nobody fishing the river.....Lots of fowl seen around Crowley and was always one of my favorite places to hunt when I lived up there.
Up high we saw Mt. quail and down in the valley we saw valley quail.....Never saw a chukar, but locals said it was a good recruitment year.....Don't doubt it with so much water everywhere.
I know there's no sage hen season this year around Crowley or Bodie (Mono), but a car hit this hen and I took some pix of her.
If you get a chance, stop at Tom's Place....Great food and say hello to Jo Jo....My neighbor back in 1981.....Here ex husband Don is a guide for G-3 and elk.....Got guy to know up there.
Few more pix.
ps.....Need to stop at Schat's Bakery too....Pull away bread is the bomb....lol
It was just about anything....White rooster tail was best on the upper and power jig with red power worm on the lower....Kastmasters or small gold spoons were good too.
