Spring Turkey season 2023

Anybody else dealing with some unresponsive birds? Heard a few gobbles this morning on the public land ghetto. Toms still seem to be with hens, What’s everybody seeing or hearing? Picture is from last years bird and 2019 buck!

The weather definitely pushed back the spring dispersion which is probably why you're seeing that. Also, all the pressure really slows them down after a couple of weeks on public in my experience.

That said, they arent going to leave the ladies to come check you out for a few hours after fly down. I usually dont kill public birds early in the AM. I killed my tom at 4:30 this year.

Heard a few gobbles Friday morning. They didn’t want anything to do with my yelps, purs or cuts. Think it’ll be a little later before they get curious.

I think there was at least 3 different gobblers where i was this morning. I’m just waiting to strike when the irons hot to take off sometime during the week!

I think I heard two. Maybe a distant third. They didn’t really fire off much from the roost.

Ran in to guy yesterday, he was hiking out said his dog blew mud straight out the kennel on to his floor. I thought what a poor fella.

Birds didn’t really seem interested. But it was great to get out.

Going out for three days this coming week. Then a two days the following week maybe. After that a three day trips every week with the bow until the end of season or I get a bird which ever comes first.
