Training a 1 yr old GSP

Hey folks,

We have a (almost) 1 yr old GSP that we got while living in North Carolina and we're trying to figure out how to get her ready for the season, but we don't have a couple grand to send her to a good kennel.

She hasn't been exposed to gunfire since she was just a small pup, so I really want to get her used to that again.

Does anybody have any suggestions or recommendations for resources or locations around the SD area that won't overly break the bank?

She already knows quail, pheasant, and dove scents. She's very good with retrieving her decoys in water, mud, forest, and high grass (pretty much all of the coastal NC ecosystems). She points naturally, but I've never had her in a hunting situation, and she's never encountered a snake before, so that worries me.

Thanks.

Nothing like hunting with a dog in my opinion, good luck and have fun.

High on Kennels seems to be the most highly recommended training around, I'll definitely give them a call, even if it's only for the rattlesnake-avoidance training.

Good advice...All of my dogs have spent time at High on Kennels. Good folks and they have an amazing facility.
