For sure there is a lot of deer at the base. You went 5 miles you should of seen deer.
Edit: what I meant Matt that it was odd that These deer are getting tough to find. Wondering because of the dry weather they gone nocturnal.

I hunt near a water hole. I scanned all near by mountains, far away and nada.
Hundreds of acres. There must be other water sources.

You are right about the five miles we covered some ground and should have seen deer. The San margarita river has water now it did not a month ago so we hunted near it and I am really surprised that we did not see any deer all day. They may have gone nocturnal.

unfortunately I will be on business meetings from Wed-Sun this week and the following week I am going out of town for ten days. My season is over and now I have a year to find deer and answers to my thousand questions.

I've never hunted D15 before but I have seen a ton of deer hiking in the Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve, I would recommend hitting up the CNF closest to there.
