Finally got back in the swing of killin

Yup, day six hd arrow with a g5 dead meat. I also shoot the day six Evo fixed blade, but I had a clear quartering away shot so I decided to make a bigger hole. If there's brush or I'm gonna have to punch shoulders, I'll shoot the Evo though. Killed a lot of stuff with that head over the years.

Public participant survey about the California Fish and Game Commission - DEI alive and well :(

Right but this is California so like it or not, that stuff gets stuck into every aspect of life somehow. Gotta play the game by the rules they set.

Finally got back in the swing of killin

After eating tag soup last year (first year hunting d16 after moving out from NC), I finally punched my a22 this week. Lots of scouting, glassing, trail cams, miles hiked, and missed chances came together to give me a 45 yard quartering shot at what is *technically* a 3x2 (I'm still calling it a...

Public participant survey about the California Fish and Game Commission - DEI alive and well :(

Y'all are missing the point. Hunting is for everyone. The more diverse our stakeholder group is, the more powerful our voice is. It's harder to ignore when there's folks from all walks of life advocating for the same things.

Blood on the ground in the 16

Appreciate all the tips guys, if you look at the bottom of the picture in the op, I found the buck lol. Went all of about ten yards before he tipped over. Never knew what hit him. I'll make a separate post with more pics tomorrow. My truck got stolen last night so I've been a bit preoccupied...

Blood on the ground in the 16

After a lot of close calls, I finally got a good shot on a buck today. Blood looks good, and I don't think he went far. How long should I wait before searching? Pic of arrow attached.

    D Zone Giant Down!!

Which d zone? Excellent buck man! I punched an a22 tag today on a deer that was significantly smaller lol.

    Terrible cook lol

Sous vide is another option- breast out skin on or spatchcock, sous vide for a few hours at 130, then dry off and cool in the fridge. Start in a cold pan and sear until crispy. Shouldn't take long.

Lead free 7mm rem mag rounds

Oh I'm not changing my loads this close to hunting season, just curious about what other folks are using. I'll play around this winter with the hammer 155s and probably lrx 162's, but I'm a bit worried about the lrx with the 9.5 twist. Would really like to get back to .5 moa at all my hunting...

Lead free 7mm rem mag rounds

Barrel is 26". I don't think I'd hunt much past 600 anyways, I'd be worried about reliable expansion at those ranges but I do like long range shooting and I practice with the same rounds I hunt with.

Lead free 7mm rem mag rounds

What twist rate are you running? My barrel is 1:9.5, too slow for the hammer 155's per manufacturer recommendation

Elk calibers, rifle and stock, and scope

Well before the shut down they were clearing in less than two weeks. I heard of some that came through same day. Now, who knows.

Lead free 7mm rem mag rounds

Curious what bullets the 7mm rem mag shooters (arguably the most handsome and intelligent men in the whole state) are hunting with this year. I used the federal trophy copper 150 grain last year, and I can get moa groups, but not as consistently as my previous lead hunting rounds (Winchester...

Elk calibers, rifle and stock, and scope

Out of curiosity, how is factory 7prc ammo inherently more accurate than any other factory offering? Accuracy comes down to tolerances and load consistency, manufacturers use the same machines to load their 7prc as they do all their other stuff...
