What is your favorite duck load?

3.5" Black Cloud 2's out of a stock Winchester IC. I order through Rogers and a local FFL. Been using these for years since my days on the river shooting honkers to shooting specks up here. At the end of the day, it's what works best for you and your gun, otherwise it becomes a Chevy vs Ford...

    Lake Henshaw Hunting Tips

Steve, the rules changed on a constant basis. I do not know what the rules are this year,,,but in years past, my observations: Certain years, only MCC members got to setup up the day before, or could do it at an earlier time than non-members. One year, one dude got to lock up what he wanted...

    Lake Henshaw Hunting Tips

MCC folks lock up the good stuff, because they leave their gear out, their claim is staked.

    never been duck hunting

Felt like I was in the Twilight Zone reading this :o Anyway, for what it's worth, I shoot an IC choke for all my waterfowl hunting.

    Barret Resevoir

Sutherland shut down too. I had some of my best SD hunts from Sutherland and Otay. I miss those days! My advice to the OP, go for it and get a feel for it! Worst case scenario, boating with guns (ducker's version of hiking with guns), it beats working or doing yard work!

    Lake Henshaw

Oh boy, what kind of changes? More MCC and less public? Higher costs? More restrictions?

    Barrett ?

Skip and Bob, class acts, SD City Lake royalty and legends. Hansen bros could kill some ducks! I learned a lot watching Skip, Bob and their boys. Another legend I really learned a lot from, Ray Montera.

    Local Goose Hunting

Easy on the Grasshopper! I could have easily busted your chops on some of your early duck hunting posts...ruddy killer! Oooops, sorry for the jacking the jacked thread :-*

    Cibola goose hunting

The Farm Unit has been garbage for years. I bet they are only successful on days when new birds arrive. After that, it's like watching the Goose Parade from roost to feed, by-passing most hunt-able spots. It all depends on the holding ponds. If they are full of water, the honky tonks will...

What's in your blind bag or bucket?

Those little headlights are the bomb! I keep a thermacell versus the bug spray, but same concept. I also keep my handheld GPS for accurate on the spot sunrise info. Plus, when it's slow I look at the fish/hunt function to see when the "best" and "good" time slots are, just for chits and...

End of the Season - And what a season it was

Congrats on your first season! You obviously now have the "BUG"!! I like some of the advice given....never underestimate the power of the interweb! Loose pics and loose lips kill spots fast, Just takes one azz-hat to blow out an area. Your posts are fun reading, look forward to seeing...

What a day on the water

Technically (so they say), rice breast is safe to consume. If I know about, I just can't do it. With plucking, it's just the gamble you have to take. What you don't know, don't hurt. I guess.
